Self care birb

For about 6 weeks or so, I've been using a self care app called Finch. There's a little cartoon bird (the app exclusively uses "birb") that goes on adventures of you complete enough self care tasks that day, and you can dress it up and decorate it's birdhouse. There's a bunch of functionality that I haven't really used, but it seems pretty well done.

If you want cute reminders to drink water, or to be rewarded for just literally surviving the day, (I have one task that's just "got out of bed" and another that's "literally survived the day") I think it's worth looking at.

How are you feeling about it with a couple weeks more use?

i've tried apps similar before and it's like, i start out liking it but then i don't stop in again for a while and then losing a "streak" or whatever they try to use to "incentivise" you into opening it daily is kinda brain-bad for me so I end up checking back out again on them. wish that those kinds of apps had a toggle of/on for Streak functionality!

I'm still sticking with it so far, which may be the longest I've ever stuck with anything like this before.

The app does a big splash page showing your streak the first time you open it each day, but otherwise I like how it actually doesn't make a big deal about streaks of your daily tasks. If you only occasionally hit a specific task the app'll give you a popup showing you how many times you've hit that task recently, like "5 completions in 14 days!". That particular phrasing feels more like celebrating the wins as they happen rather than demanding perfect unbroken streaks in my brain, but YMMV of course.
