(Nov 2024) How's Everyone??

Post by gremlijns »

hey everybody
as you drop by let me know how you're all doing, would you?

the masto instance i'm on is down and none of us are in a hurry to fix it (and i think i like it that way)

we've been sick the last couple of weeks; or rather, *I've* been sick for like 3 days, and my child has been sick for 12, with some non-covid but lung-nasty crud. and while I valiantly avoided it for those 9 days via masks and airflow and partial isolation, wow i sure am sick now :') ow
I haven't been working on any of my stuff lately. no knitting, no spinning. no pastels or paints or tarot. no journaling. I suppose there's been a bit of art-RPG digital art and writing, a smattering here and there between all of the Everything.

work is questionable, I have no idea what sort of weird transition state my manager is in right now but I'm anxious to find out. HR also has set my pay to a weird amount due to not filing a form & tax status that I qualify for, which is really making things annoyingly tight (but not impossible or anything, just annoying and needing a bit of creative accounting that's unreasonably pushing poverty brain buttons). I want to supplement income somehow. I'm not sure how I'll do it yet. maybe back to risque business, maybe back to etsy. IWe'll see how collecting supplies & learning how to jewelry solder goes, I need new ring splints at a fraction of the cost :D

That's my current venture, I suppose - slowly gathering all the supplies for that. half-round wire, jewelry soldering gun, beaker and pickle ad hot plate, tongs of course, jewelry solder & flux. a really nice pair of flush cutters for all this wire. probably a tiny saw too, since it'd be REALLY nice if I could resize my own rings & solder my wedding bands together myself. I'm certainly not *starting* with those, that'll be uh. down the road haha

Anyway other than that there's I suppose slowly learning dutch; I'm very behind my child in terms of picking it up (but they have constant daily exposure and I... do not! so I have an amount of reason for it at least)

Tell me what's good with all y'all - good books? shows or movies? games? something neat happening in your world?

P.S. my last-known state of residency, which knows my legal name & that it changed over 18 months ago, issued me a jury duty summons. To my old name. even though EVERYTHING is in my legal name - voter registration, driver's license, SSN of course, passport, the whole 9 yards. What on earth is going on with bureaucracy

we're still here, in the abstract!

surviving the "bomb cyclone" weather pattern, helping one of our gfs move, helping to keeping up the mental health of our acquaintances

awoo, etc

I continue to exist. [Content warning: venting] Instead of burning the candle at both ends, I've tossed the whole thing into the fire place like it's a firewood. I continue to work 10+ hours a day, 6-7 days a week. I have recently failed in my fifth(?) attempt to better my position at my place of work, which is always a downer. On one hand I feel like I'm very slowly drowning in quicksand, on the other hand I know I'm doing relatively good in the current situation of the world. It's frustrating. [/venting]
